'Legend of Zelda' live-action film casts Bo Bragason, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Princess Zelda, Link
Nintendo has officially revealed the two British actors who will play Princess Zelda and Link in its live-action "The Legend of Zelda" movie.
The lead cast was announced by Nintendo video game designer and film producer Shigeru Miyamoto on Nintendo's X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday.
According to Miyamoto, Bo Bragason will play the role of Princess Zelda, while Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play Link.
"I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen," he said.
"The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 7, 2027. Thank you for your patience."
Bragason has starred in "The Radleys," "The Jetty," "Renegade Nell," "Three Girls," and more. Ainsworth, for his part, has starred in the live-action "Pinocchio," "Flora and Ulysses," and "The Haunting of Bly Manor," among others.
In 2023, Miyamoto announced that the development of the live-action "Legend of Zelda" movie had officially begun. It is being helmed by "Maze Runner" director Wes Ball, with Miyamoto and former Marvel Studios CEO Avi Arad as producers.
"The Legend of Zelda" video game franchise was created by Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, with the first game released in 1986. Its latest installation, "The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom," was released in 2024.
