Jessica Sanchez credits obedience and faith for 'America's Got Talent' win

Jessica Sanchez is overflowing with gratitude after winning “America’s Got Talent” Season 20.

Following her win, Jessica took to Instagram to share a heartfelt video, admitting that she is still processing her achievement. She looked back on her journey starting with her decision to audition.

“God has really been really showing out these past couple months. When I first decided to audition, you know, I hadn't been really doing a lot of music. And then I just was like, you know what? I wanna try this again,” she said.

Jessica admitted that her decision was “really scary” for her.

“As you guys know, I've done this before. And I feel like I failed in the past. And I failed you guys. And so coming back, it was really scary. And then a couple days later, I find out that I'm pregnant. And I asked myself, you know, like, should I continue this journey? And should I still pursue this even though I'm pregnant now? And my husband, you know, kind of reminded me like there's an open door there,” she said.

For Jessica, it was God that opened the door for her.

“And I think it's your responsibility to just walk through it and see what happens. And then, you know, I just took the leap of faith and did the audition and I got so many comments that it inspired so many people to pursue their dreams again. And that is the reason why I, you know, wanted to get back into music is to use this gift to inspire others,” she said.

The singer, who is nine months pregnant and due in about two weeks, said that the competition had been one of the “most challenging things she has ever had to go through vocally and emotionally and mentally and physically.”

She shared that she would wake up in the middle of the night in pain due to sciatica and her body adjusting in preparation for birth.

“But you guys have really been showing me so much love on the internet, online, on social media and really have been helping me get back up and just believing that I'm here,” she said.

“And I've been so obedient in this season of just surrendering my will over to His.”

Jessica thanked those who voted for her, expressing her deep gratitude for believing in her.

She also shared heartfelt thanks to the judges and the production team for their crucial roles in her victory, specifically recognized Sofia Vergara for hitting the Golden Buzzer. She also spoke highly of Simon Cowell, adding that she had always wanted to sing in front of him.

Jessica also made sure to show appreciation for her fellow contestants, acknowledging that she “did not think tonight was gonna go the way it did” because she shared the stage with “so many amazing talents.”

Since she cannot fly, Jessica and her husband are bound to drive back to Texas ahead of them to prepare for their baby girl.

She also promised fans that she will be releasing a lot of new music.

“I'm gonna get some rest. I'm gonna digest everything that has happened tonight and probably cry a lot. Thank you guys so much again and I cannot wait to speak to you guys a little bit more,” she said.

The singer first went on "America's Got Talent" at 10 and reached the semi-finals. She rose to fame as the runner-up in "American Idol" Season 11.

Jessica made a grand AGT comeback in July, where she sang "Beautiful Things" by Benson Boone and earned a golden buzzer from Sofia.

In the finale episode of the competition, the Filipino-American singer delivered a powerful performance of “Golden Hour” by JVKE.
