Callum Turner shares how fate led him to meet Dua Lipa after 'five near misses'

Callum Turner opened up about the almost-missed moments that led to his relationship with Dua Lipa, sharing how fate seemed to conspire to bring them together.

In an interview with “The Times,” the English actor shared that he and Dua had several near encounters before they finally met.

“We had maybe two, three, four, five near misses over our time where we didn’t meet, mutual friends and places. There’s one where she went to a party and then I went to the party but I arrived minutes after she left. I arrived at 2 in the morning and she left at 1.45 — she checked her Uber and I checked a photo I’d taken opposite my friend’s house when I arrived,” Callum said.

But their eventual meeting was instantaneous, over drinks in Los Angeles before a mutual friend’s birthday celebration.

“We sat next to each other and realised we were reading the same book, which is crazy. It’s called Trust [by Hernán Díaz] and I had just finished the first chapter and I told her and she looked at me and said, ‘I just finished the first chapter too.’ I said, ‘So we’re on the same page,’” Callum said.

For Callum, the connection felt undeniable.

“In the movie version of it, I look up to the sky and I’m like, I hear you. I understand. The signs are loud, don’t worry. And that was really the first [moment],” he said.

Dua and Callum started dating in January 2024. The couple sparked engagement rumors in December 2024 when Dua posted a photo of her wearing a ring on her left ring finger in an Instagram photo dump.

In June, Dua confirmed their engagement.

Callum is best known for his role as Theseus, the brother of Newt Scamander, in the fantasy films “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” and “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.”
