South Korean director Shin Sung Hoon found dead at 40
South Korean director Shin Sung Hoon has passed away. He was 40 years old.
His passing was reported by Korean media outlets, which said that Shin was found dead at his home in May.
According to the report, an acquaintance who visited his home after being unable to reach him was the first to find him collapsed and immediately alerted the police.
Shin first debuted in 2003 as a member of the boy group Max. He later joined the male duo Fly-M and also pursued acting.
Afterwards, he shifted his focus to filmmaking, studying screenwriting and directing.
His debut short film, “JajangMyeon Thank You,” earned him multiple Best Director and Best Film awards at various film festivals. Another one of his works, “God’s Choice,” received the Best Director award in Brazil.
Shin’s most recent project, “Juvenile Offenders 2,” is in the final stages of post-production and is scheduled for release later this year. —Jade Veronique Yap/JCB, GMA Integrated News
