Why Blackpink's Jisoo is trending over outfit return controversy with Belgian designer

Blackpink member Jisoo’s name is making rounds online after Belgian fashion designer Benjamin Voortmans claimed that several clothing pieces loaned for the K-pop star’s album shoot had not been returned for months.

According to Korean media outlets, the controversy began after Benjamin, founder of fashion label Judassime, alleged in a now-deleted Instagram video that items sent to Korea for Jisoo’s photoshoot were still not returned six months later.

In the video, Benjamin said they had been trying to contact the teams involved in the project, including Korean and American representatives connected to the shoot, but allegedly received no response despite sending invoices and contracts tied to the borrowed pieces.

Per the designer, several of the garments were key items from a recent collection and carried significant value.

As the issue gained traction online, Benjamin later uploaded another video saying the situation was already being addressed.

The designer shared that they had received a call and that arrangements were being made to recover the items in Korea.

Benjamin also clarified that the public posts were not intended as a personal attack against Jisoo.

They explained that the singer’s name was used because the clothing was tied to her shoot and appeared throughout the email exchanges and production communications.

The designer further addressed the backlash they received online, including hate comments from some fans, while maintaining that the goal was simply to get a response after months of silence.

Benjamin said they still admired Jisoo and what the singer represents, adding that the situation may have been worsened by misunderstandings and how discussions become amplified on social media.

Jisoo and her management team have not publicly responded to the controversy as of posting.
