Niall Horan praises BTS' performance skills: 'I have no idea how to do anything you're doing'
Niall Horan had only high praise for BTS while discussing the differences between Western boy bands and K-pop groups.
In an appearance on Jake Shane’s “Therapuss” on Netflix, Niall was asked whether he relates to K-pop groups, prompting him to reflect on how boy bands from different generations have their own styles and approaches to performing.
“Well, none of our bit was like, super choreographed or anything like that. So they’re very different. Each generation seems like it’s got, like, boy bands, but they’re all kind of different to each other,” Niall said.
“Like, we didn’t wear all white outfits and do routines and things like, say, *NSYNC or Backstreet [Boys]. We just kind of walked around. It worked. We worked around that stage. And the K-pop thing is I guess more structured. But like, they look like athletes,” he added.
Niall singled out BTS, expressing admiration for the group’s intricate choreography and stage presence.
“Like when you watch BTS dance, you’re like, ‘Honestly, I have no idea how to do anything you’re doing, but it’s kind of crazy what you’re doing it.’ It’s like, it’s pretty intense, but it’s amazing,” he said.
Along with Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and the late Liam Payne, Niall was a former member of One Direction.
Meanwhile, BTS is currently on their "Arirang" World Tour. It kicked off in April in South Korea, following the release of their comeback album "Arirang" last March.
They are set to perform at the Philippine Sports Stadium on March 13 and 14, 2027.
