Twice's Chaeyoung announces departure from JYP Entertainment
Twice member Chaeyoung has announced that she is leaving JYP Entertainment after 14 years with the agency.
In a message on Instagram, Chaeyoung said she is excited to enter a “new chapter” and explore her music through her new creative world.
“I’m so excited to step into a new chapter and bring my new LIL FANTASY, a world where I can explore and build my music,” she said.
Chaeyoung also expressed her gratitude to JYP Entertainment and Team Twice for their support throughout her career.
“I want to deeply thank everyone at JYP and Team Twice for believing in and supporting me over the past 14 years. And to my Twice members, who are always my strength and biggest supporters thank you, and I love you beyond words.”
“Most of all, please know that nothing changes with Twice. Everything I’ve received is thanks to my time as Twice, which will always be my roots.”
Chaeyoung said she hopes to continue creating meaningful music both as a member of Twice and through her individual artistic pursuits.
“I hope both Chaeyoung of Twice and Chaeyoung in LIL FANTASY can continue to create music that brings meaning to you as well. This is a new challenge for me, and I promise to keep growing into an even better person and artist,” she said. “Thank you for always believing in me. I love you!”
Earlier this week, Jeongyeon also announced that she is leaving JYP Entertainment.
"I will prepare step by step with all my heart—both for my journey as TWICE’s Jeongyeon, whom you have loved so much, and for the new challenges ahead as Yu Jeongyeon,” she said.
According to a report by Soompi, VARO Entertainment announced on Monday that Jeongyeon has signed an exclusive contract with them, which will allow her to pursue opportunities in acting.
Twice, comprising members Jihyo, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu, debuted in 2015 under JYP Entertainment.
Their hits include "What is Love?" “Alcohol-Free,” "Strategy" feat. Megan Thee Stallion, "Fancy," "The Feels," "Talk That Talk," and more.
