Dave Bautista replaces Ryan Hurst as Kratos in 'God of War' series
Dave Bautista has been cast as Kratos in Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming “God of War” series.
According to Variety, he will replace Ryan Hurst, who was previously cast as the lead but had to exit after suffering a torn bicep that required surgery.
Production is expected to resume in the coming weeks, with scenes featuring Ryan set to be reshot.
The series has received a two-season order, with the seasons set to film back-to-back.
“God of War” will follow Kratos and his 10-year-old son Atreus as they journey to spread the ashes of Kratos’ late wife and Atreus’ mother, Faye, while facing gods from Norse mythology.
Callum Vinson remains attached as Atreus, while the cast also includes Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, and Ed Skrein as Baldur.
The series is an adaptation of PlayStation’s mythology-themed video game franchise, which began in 2005. —Carby Rose Basina/JCB, GMA News
