Taylor Swift mourns Dolly Parton: 'A world without Dolly doesn't feel possible'

Taylor Swift paid tribute to Dolly Parton following the country music icon’s death.

In a statement sent to international outlets, including The Hollywood Reporter, Taylor rememberied Dolly as an inspiration whose legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched.

According to Taylor, "a world without Dolly doesn’t feel possible, real, or right.”

“But because of the eternally generous way she spent her time on this earth and the countless lives she changed for the better, her legacy will be an everlasting one.”

Taylor described Dolly as “the gift that kept on giving,” praising her for encouraging people to embrace their individuality while sharing lessons about life with honesty, warmth, and humor.

“She managed to give the world the ultimate mystery and fantasy in some corners of her life, but to give full transparency in the ways that counted. Somehow she was true grace and true grit, all in one dazzling person,” she said.

She also praised Dolly’s compassion and strength, saying she had “the softest heart” towards the struggles of others and “a backbone of steel” when defending her worth as an artist.

“Along with her other fans, I am so grateful for all of it. For the melodies and lyrics she wrote that thawed even the coldest hearts. For the millions of books she provided children all over the world so that they might fall in love with stories the way she did.”

Dolly died on August 25. She was 80.

According to People Magazine, she died after a “brief battle with cancer.”

Following the news of her passing, notable personalities including former US president Barack Obama, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdami, Jack White, Jane Fonda, and Eminem paid tribute to Dolly.

US President Donald Trump announced US flags across the United States will be flown at half-staff for one week in her honor.
