Allen Iverson to make debut in Dominican Republic league
Former NBA MVP Allen Iverson will be heading to the Dominican Republic after signing a one month contract with a local club.
NBA.com reports that Iverson, a four-time scoring champion, will play his debut on Sunday against GUG in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
The 11-time All Star will receive $22,000 for a month of his services, according to CBS Sports Los Angeles. Iverson's salary pales in comparison to the six-year, $70 million contract he once signed with the Philadelphia 76ers.
It will be Iverson's second stint overseas. He previously inked a two-year, $4 million deal with Turkish team Besiktas in 2010. But only after a month with the team, he came home to the United States permanently to undergo surgery for his injured calf. — Reneé Fopalan/RSJ, GMA News
