NBA: Ricky Rubio knee surgery successful

Spanish national team mainstay and Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio underwent surgery in Vail, Colorado Wednesday to reconstruct two torn ligaments in his left knee.

 

The injury occured in the Timberwolves' loss against the Los Angeles Lakers earlier in the month when the point guard was defending Kobe Bryant. 

 

Rubio is expected to miss the rest of the season for Minnesota. He also won't be a part of the Spanish national team's Olympic campaign in London this summer.

 

The 22-year-old averaged 10.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 8.2 assists with 2.2 steals in 41 games played with the Timberwolves. — Reneé Fopalan/RSJ, GMA News
