Brandon Roy is eying a comeback. The former Portland Trail Blazer admitted this when he temporarily took over his friend and NBA-DL player Will Conroy's Twitter account to field questions from fans. "yes, I'm preparing for a comeback. I'm training daily," Roy said, later adding, "I'm preparing for a return next year..God willing."

Roy had retired prior to the start of the lockout-shortened 2011-12 NBA season, as a series of surgeries reportedly left him without any cartilage between the bones of both his knees. He later released a statement through the team, saying, "After consulting with my doctors, I will seek a determination that I've suffered a career ending injury, pursuant to the rules of the collective bargaining agreement." Portland later waived Roy using the Amnesty Clause in order to gain salary cap flexibility, meaning he received the rest of the $63 million on his contract, which lasted through the 2013-14 season, but at the same time, that figure was removed from the salary cap of the Trail Blazers. However, as a result of that decision, Roy would be unable to rejoin the Trail Blazers until the 2014-15 season, something he acknowledged by saying, "I wish but do [due] to the nba rules I cannot play in portland until 2014 2015.. I'm lookin to return sooner."@pollo3buddy I'm preparing for a return next year.. God willing — will conroy (@CHILLCONROY) June 16, 2012
The news comes on the heels of a column by NBA.com's Scott Howard-Cooper, who interviewed Washington draft prospect Tony Wroten, who was working out daily with Roy in Seattle. Wroten told Howard-Cooper that Roy "dominates. I'm a good defender, I feel like, but, man, it's a little hard to stop him. He just gets to his spots. We're going to see. His knee looks great, though." Should he return healthy, Roy would be a potent addition to any NBA team seeking veteran help. He has career averages of 19.0 points on 46 percent shooting, 4.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.0 steals. - AMD, GMA News@RipCitySwayze07 I wish but do to the nba rules I cannot play in portland until 2014 2015..
