NBA: 'The Jet' Jason Terry lands in Boston

Former Dallas Maverick and NBA champion Jason Terry has agreed to a three-year deal with the Boston Celtics worth $15.6 million, reports Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports. The Celtics will use their $5-million mid-level exception to sign the 34-year-old in a bid to bolster their offense. Despite being an unrestricted free agent, Terry had a gentleman's agreement with the Mavericks, where the Dallas franchise had the option of matching any contract offered to Terry, but they ultimately declined to do so, opting instead to maintain their cap space. The deal with Terry does not automatically mean that free agent Ray Allen will not be returning to the Celtics however, as Boston still has the cap space to retain the future Hall-of-Famer. Terry in the regular season last year averaged 15.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.2 steals, coming off the bench in all but one game. - AMD, GMA News
