NBA: Former number two overall pick Michael Beasley commits to the Suns

Former number two overall draft pick Michael Beasley has committed to the Phoenix Suns, and will sign a three-year, $18 million offer, ESPN's Marc Stein reported.

Beasley, drafted second behind Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose in 2010, became an unrestricted free agent this past off-season, when the Minnesota Timberwolves declined to sign him to a qualifying offer. The four-year pro has career averages of 15.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.6 blocks, but saw his numbers take a steep decline last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, falling to career-lows in the five aforementioned categories. It is the latest move in a series of shake-ups for the Phoenix franchise. They drafted point guard Kendall Marshall with the 13th overall pick during the 2012 NBA Draft, and will attempt to sign away restricted free agent Eric Gordon from the New Orleans Hornets. More importantly, the team agreed to part ways with superstar point guard Steve Nash, sending him to the Los Angeles Lakers for a package of draft picks. Beasley won't be able to formally sign the new deal until the moratorium for contracts is lifted on July 11 (July 12, PHL time). - AMD, GMA News
