PBA: Former imports Denzel Bowles, Jarrid Famous finish NBA Vegas Summer League quietly
2012 PBA Commissioner's Cup imports Denzel Bowles and Jarrid Famous got off to hot starts in the Las Vegas Summer League, but cooled down over the course of the 10-day exhibition schedule. Bowles, who led the B-MEG Llamados to the conference title with averages of 26.25 points, 12.46 rebounds, 2.96 assists and 1.88 blocks was picked up by the New Orleans Hornets summer team, and he debuted against the Portland Trail Blazers with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds. That however would be the only time he would post double figures in scoring or rebounding, finishing the tourney with a 7.2 point, 6.6 rebound, 1.2 block average, in four starts over five games. Another former import who displayed his skills in Las Vegas was Jarrid Famous, who was the Meralco Bolts' import for three games, a stint in which he normed 26.0 points, 15.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.67 blocks. Famous was tapped by the Milwaukee Bucks and debuted with 13 points and 11 rebounds against Bowles' Hornets squad. That turned out to be his sole shining moment though, as he would go on to total just six points and four rebounds in his other two games. Bowles and Famous were playing for training camp invitations, where they can then try to impress the coaching staff of their teams in the hopes of clinching a roster spot in the NBA. - AMD, GMA News
