NBA: Lakers not yet done dealing, sign shooter Jodie Meeks
The Los Angeles Lakers continue to bolster their roster, with Los Angeles Times' writer Mark Medina reporting that the team has come to terms with former Philadelphia 76ers sharpshooter Jodie Meeks on a two-year deal. The deal is said to be worth $3 million, with the second year being a team option, Medina adds. The four-year NBA veteran spent his last three seasons with the 76ers. He played in all 66 games of the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season, starting 50 at shooting guard, and averaged 8.4 points on 40.9 percent field goal shooting, 36.5 percent three-point shooting, and 90.6 free throw shooting, along with 2.4 rebounds. Meeks, for his career, is a 37.1 percent three-point shooter. It is expected that Meeks will back-up Lakers star Kobe Bryant at the shooting guard spot. The second-round draft pick in 2009 will also likely benefit from Steve Nash finding him open on the perimeter, and the space newly-acquired center Dwight Howard will carve out for him, while drawing double-teams. - AMD, GMA News
