NBA: Kobe Bryant joins Twitter

NBA superstar Kobe Bryant finally joined the ranks of tweeters, Friday (early Saturday, PHL time), sending out his first tweet from the verified account @kobebryant.

His introductory message, sent out six hours ago as of writing, reads "The antisocial has become social #mambatweets."

Bryant currently uses an avatar depicting the Twitter mascot bird, but with a forked mamba tongue, in honor of his nickname "The Black Mamba."

The Los Angeles Laker star isn't following anybody yet, but there are certainly a lot of people following him, with the account amassing nearly 300,000 followers in its short existence.

This actually isn't the first time Bryant has tried Twitter. Last Christmas, the Lakers guard took over the Nike Basketball Twitter account for a few days, spreading the hashtag #COUNTONKOBE. He had also previously used the @kobebryant account for a brief time, before shutting it down again, prior to today's return.

Bryant currently norms 30.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.5 steals for the 15-16 Lakers.  - AMD, GMA News
