Canaleta, Alas lead Gilas past Hong Kong

The Philippine contingent participating at the 19th EASTCOLIGHT Super Kung Sheung Cup scored an easy win against Hong Kong, 85-58, on Wednesday for the team's second straight win.

 

Niño Canaleta led the team with 15 points with three triples to lead the Philippines. Kevin Alas also had an efficient night, posting 14 points with three rebounds, two assists and a steal in 17 minutes of play.

 

The Philippines held a slim lead at the end of the first, 13-10, before out-scoring Hong Kong 24-9 in the second to have a 37-19 lead at the half.

 

The team poured it on in the third to enter the payoff period with a 71-32 lead to cruise to another victory after defeating Indonesia on Tuesday, 110-78. Gilas will face Malaysia Thursday, at 2:30pm in their last assignment in the classification phase of the eight-team tourney. - RAF, GMA News
