Chot Reyes reveals 17-man training pool for FIBA Asia Championship
(Updated 1:41pm) Philippine national team head coach Chot Reyes revealed the 17-man training pool for August's FIBA Asia Championship, Thursday, a line-up later confirmed by the PBA's official Twitter account @pbaconnect.
The list features seven players from the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters, the team he used to handle prior to taking on the Gilas squad, namely Jayson Castro, Ryan Reyes, Larry Fonacier, Jared Dillinger, Ranidel De Ocampo, Jimmy Alapag and Kelly Williams. Included as well are several of the players Reyes won the 2012 Jones Cup with, namely tournament MVP LA Tenorio (Barangay Ginebra), Gary David (GlobalPort), Gabe Norwood (Rain or Shine), Jeff Chan (Rain or Shine) and Sonny Thoss (Alaska). Also making the roster is naturalized big man Marcus Douthit, as well as a pair of players from San Miguel Corporation teams, namely June Mar Fajardo (Petron Blaze) and Marc Pingris (San Mig Coffee). Reyes also included a former Talk 'N Text player, Japeth Aguilar, who has since been traded to the GlobalPort Batang Pier, and one member of his cadet team, Ateneo de Manila University giant Greg Slaughter.

The multi-titled tactician also made sure to thank the players who had previously been part of the Gilas squad in the tournaments leading up to the formation of the pool, namely KG Canaleta (Air21), Sol Mercado (GlobalPort), Enrico Villanueva (Barako Bull Energy), Mac Baracael (Barangay Ginebra), Jay-ar Reyes (Meralco) and Ronjay Buenafe (Meralco).
