NBA: Sacramento Kings lead by as much as 43, dominate Charlotte Bobcats


The Sacramento Kings led by as much as 43 points in a one-sided game against the cellar-dwelling Charlotte Bobcats, before winning 119-83, Sunday (Monday, PHL time) at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, in a battle of last-place teams.

The Kings, who linger at the bottom of the Western Conference standings, improved to 21-40, while Charlotte lost their sixth in a row, for a 13-46 card, worst in the NBA.

After a 27-all first quarter, Marcus Thornton exploded for 10 points in the second period, to put the Kings up 54-40 at the break.

The Bobcats then hit rock-bottom in the third, as they gave up 43 points on 52 percent shooting to the Kings, while converting just 5-of-19 field goal attempts (26.3 percent).

Both teams then inserted their third-stringers to finish out the game in the fourth period.

John Salmons led all scorers with 22 points on 6-of-13 shooting, converting 5-of-10 triples. Jason Thompson added 18 points and 14 rebounds, Marcus Thornton also dropped 18 markers, while DeMarcus Cousins tallied 14 points and nine boards.

The Kings drew 12 points from Byron Mullens and Gerald Henderson. Kemba Walker had 11 points, six assists and two steals.

Sacramento ruled the boards, nearly doubling that of Charlotte, 60-31, 18-to-4 on the offensive glass. - AMD, GMA News
