ABL: Former San Beda Red Lion Julius Armon signs with Westports Malaysia Dragons

With Filipino gunner Patrick Cabahug sidelined by an ankle sprain, the Westports Malaysia Dragons have signed former San Beda College Red Lion Julius Armon to fill his spot, the Asean Basketball League confirmed Thursday on their Twitter account.

Armon actually never suited up for the Red Lions in the NCAA tournament proper, but played a crucial role in San Beda winning a third straight Father Martin Open Cup a year ago.

The 6'3" swingman had stayed behind in the United States following the team's annual summer training there last June, with then-head coach Ronnie Magsanoc saying that the Fil-Am had decided to "skip college basketball."

In his last tournament with San Beda, the 2012 FilOil Flying V Preseason Tournament, Armon normed 12.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals in just 21.6 minutes.

Cabahug, the former Adamson Falcon Armon replaces, has missed the last two games, and averaged 7.70 points, 2.10 rebounds and 0.90 assists, prior to his injury.

The Dragons are currently third in the standings with a 6-6 record, behind the 8-3 San Miguel Beermen and the 9-3 Indonesia Warriors.
