Philippines falls short of the quarters at U18 3x3 FIBA World Championships
The reigning FIBA Asia 3x3 U18 champions Philippines couldn't arrest their slide, losing their last two games in group stage of the 2013 U18 3x3 FIBA World Championships, as they failed to qualify for the quarterfinals.
The Philippines lost 19-14 to the Czech Republic and 21-14 to the United States on Saturday, in Jakarta, Indonesia, giving them a 3-4 card, which was out of the top four of Pool B.
Instead, the undefeated United States, China (6-1), Czech Republic (5-2) and Bulgaria (4-3) will move on to the next round.
The four-man team of Arvin Tolentino (San Beda High), Thirdy Ravena (Ateneo High), Prince Rivero (LSGH) and Kobe Paras (LSGH) actually started strong, beating Chinese Taipei (13-5), Guatemala (18-9) and Andorra (15-11) on Day 1.
Day 2 though was a nightmare as they had to give up a 20-0 default to China after all four players fouled out, before they lost 12-11 to Bulgaria. - AMD, GMA news
