NBA: Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra receives contract extension - reports

The Miami Heat will keep Erik Spoelstra, who piloted LeBron James and company to back-to-back NBA titles, around for much longer, reportedly coming to terms with the Filipino-American on a multi-year contract extension.

Terms of the deal were not immediately known, but an official announcement will be made prior to the start of the team's training camp in the Bahamas. He currently makes a reported $3 million per year, according to ESPN.

The news comes amidst an official report by the Heat regarding several front office promotions.

In a press release dated September 28, the Heat announced the following:

"Andy Elisburg to Senior Vice President, Basketball Operations/General Manager, Adam Simon to Assistant General Manager/General Manager Sioux Falls Skyforce, Dan Craig to Assistant Coach/Player Development, Chad Kammerer to Director of NBA Scouting/Advance Scout, Keith Askins to Director of College and Pro Scouting and the hiring of Juwan Howard to Assistant Coach/Player Development."

The 42-year-old Spoelstra has a 260-134 record over five seasons. In the postseason, Spoelstra is 50-29 with three consecutive trips to the NBA Finals. - AMD, GMA News
