PBA: Barako Bull shuns draft, banks on established players

Barako Bull Energy Cola drew a ton of criticism for their offseason moves, opting not to use the fourth, fifth and sixth overall picks, and instead, dealing for an odd assortment of veterans.

However, the team still picked up five other players in the lower rounds, and further added to their ranks with two trades. The franchise also had to turn the reins over wholly to Bong Ramos, as consultant Rajko Toroman was let go prior to the draft.

Barako made just one postseason berth in the three conferences last season, but many felt their moves have left them even worse than 2012-13. That could result in teams sleeping on them, allowing the Energy Cola to come out of left field and surprise us all.

Check out the infographic for a recap of all of Barako Bull’s moves, and then tell us how you think they fared in the poll below.

What grade would you give the Barako Bull Energy Cola for their offseason moves?

A - They'll be legit contenders this season

B - Great moves but they'll need a bit of luck to go far in the postseason

C - Good, but they're still at the same level as before

D - I think they became a bit worse

F - I expect this team to be at the bottom of the standings anew

INC - I still need to see how they play together
