LeBron James, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, banner 28-player Team USA pool - ESPN

The United States of America looks to continue to be on top of the world in terms of basketball, as it looks to win gold in the FIBA World Cup and the Rio Olympics with a roster chockfull of star power, ESPN reported, Wednesday (Thursday, PHL time).

ESPN.com’s Marc Stein and Dave McMenamin were able to get an advance copy of the 28-player pool, which will officially be revealed on Thursday (Thursday evening, PHL time) by USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo and head coach Mike Krzyzewski.

The trio of LeBron James, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony top the list, while other past national team members to make the cut include the injured Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, Kevin Love, James Harden, Dwight Howard, Stephen Curry, Deron Williams, Tyson Chandler, Andre Iguodala and Anthony Davis.

The up-and-comers portion of the list includes Paul George, Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge, Kyrie Irving, Damian Lillard, Andre Drummond, DeMarcus Cousins, Bradley Beal, Gordon Hayward, Klay Thompson, Kenneth Faried, and Kawhi Leonard, plus veteran NBA players David Lee and Kyle Korver.

Not on the list are Kobe Bryant, who said in the past that the 2012 London Olympics would be his last, and the Miami Heat duo of Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

The report stresses that it is doubtful that the likes of James, Paul and Anthony will be part of the 2014 FIBA World Cup squad. However, Durant and Love have already committed to play in Spain, with Dwight Howard leaning towards joining them as well, according to a Yahoo Sports report.
