NBA: Danny Granger to sign with Clippers after clearing waivers - reports

Free agent forward Danny Granger, recently let go by the Philadelphia 76ers, is reportedly set to join the Los Angeles Clippers after clearing waivers on Friday (Saturday, PHL time), according to multiple reports.

Candace Buckner of the Indianapolis Star first reported the news via Twitter.

Granger started the season with the Indiana Pacers after playing in just five games last season due to knee injuries. He was slow to regain his old form though, norming just 8.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists while shooting at a 35.9 percent clip. As a result, the Pacers dealt him to the 76ers for a package headlined by swingman Evan Turner, prior to the deadline.

The 76ers then agreed to a buy out with the 6’9” forward on Wednesday (Thursday, PHL time). Unless a team opts to take on the remainder of his $14 million salary, he will become a free agent on Friday (Saturday, PHL time), which will allow him to negotiate a new deal with any team of his choosing.

If he does indeed go to the Clippers, it would be the second free agent signing of a waived player by the club this season, after they picked up power forward Glen Davis earlier this week, formerly of the Orlando Magic.

The Clippers, currently fourth in the Western Conference with a 40-20 record, could definitely need an additional wing scorer, what with JJ Redick (bulging disk) and Jamal Crawford (calf strain) currently sidelined. - AMD, GMA News
