It was the Warriors' first win in Indianapolis since 2007 and it was Golden State's third win on a six-game trip that winds up Wednesday (Thursday, PHL time) in Boston.
Indiana forward Paul George's three-point attempt as the buzzer sounded hit the back rim and bounced away.
Thompson led the Warriors (37-24) with 25 points. Backcourt teammate Stephen Curry added 19 points and forward David Lee scored 11.
Forward David West led the Pacers (46-14) with 27 points. George had 26 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Pacers stormed back from a 13-point deficit in the final five minutes. A slam dunk by guard Lance Stephenson following a Golden State turnover pulled the Pacers within six points, 94-88, with 4:13 left.
After consecutive baskets by center Roy Hibbert and George, George tied the score at 94 on a free throw following a play in which he stole the ball from Curry in the backcourt.
The Pacers, who had a five-game winning streak halted, lost at home for just the fourth time this season. Their 29 home wins are still No. 1 in the NBA.
The early part of the game looked like a shooting contest between Curry and George. The latter hit his first two shots and scored 12 points in the opening quarter. Curry hit 4-of-9 shots for nine points, including one three-pointer.
Curry missed the only shot he took in the second quarter, but he did assist on a couple of Golden State baskets. George scored just one basket.
Golden State opened up a 10-point lead, 48-38, when Lee drove hard to the hoop for a lay-in, finishing off a 10-4 run.
The Pacers answered quickly in the third quarter, hitting six of their first 10 shots to tie the score at 58. - Reuters
