Davis Cup: Tierro, Gonzales take care of home court with opening day wins against Pakistan

PJ Tierro and Ruben Gonzales secured a strong start for the Philippines against Pakistan in the second round of the 2014 Davis Cup Group II Asia/Oceania competition, Friday at the Philippine Columbian Association tennis court in Manila.

Tierro disposed of Ageel Khan, 7-5 6-4 6-4, before Gonzales defeated Samir Iftikhar, 6-4 6-3 6-1.

The lone doubles match will be played on Saturday, where Treat Huey and Johnny Arcilla will match up against Khan and Aisam Qureshi. On Sunday, Gonzales will face Khan in the third singles match of the series, while Tierro goes up against Iftikhar in the final match. - GMA News
