Rain or Shine Elasto Painter Arizona Reid copped a second Best Import of the Conference prize, while Talk ’N Text Tropang Texter Ranidel de Ocampo was named Best Player of the Conference, Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, prior to the start of game two of the 2014 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals.
Reid previously won Best Import in the 2011 Governors' Cup, while De Ocampo is the second Tropang Texter to take home a BPC award this conference, as Jayson Castro also picked one up in the Commissioner's Cup.
The Elasto Painter led in three of the four categories, stats, media votes, and league votes, to finish with 1306 points, ahead of San Mig Coffee Mixer Marqus Blakely (1043), Talk ’N Text Tropang Texter Paul Harris (602) and Alaska Ace Henry Walker (572).
De Ocampo on the other hand actually had the lowest stats of the five nominees, and was only third in the players’ vote, but topped media voting and got the nod of the league, to garner 1084 points. The gap between him and second-placer June Mar Fajardo of San Miguel Beer was smaller though, as the 6’9” center totaled 989 points. In third was veteran Air21 center Asi Taulava (638), followed by Ginebra’s Greg Slaughter (409) and Meralco’s Cliff Hodge (404) - AMD, GMA News
