Danny Ildefonso is headed to Blackwater Sports after being tabbed first in the PBA's expansion draft on Friday.

The two-time PBA Most Valuable Player spent the past year with Meralco, but was left unprotected by the Bolts after the season.

“Masaya siyempre, kahit paano may nag-pick sa akin, dahil maraming mga mas bata kesa sa akin,” Ildefonso told Richard Dy of Spin.ph after his selection.

Aside from Ildefonso, the expansion squad also selected Paul Artadi and Chris Timberlake from Meralco, Alex Nuyles from Rain or Shine, JR Cawaling from San Mig Coffee, Eddie Laure from Alaska, Bryan Faundo from Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, Robby Celiz from Talk 'N Text, and free agents Norman Gonzales, JP Erram, Gilbert Bulawan, and Bam Gamalinda.

Kia Motors, the other expansion team in the draft, meanwhile selected Nic Belasco from Alaska, Mike Burtscher and Joshua Webb from Air 21, Hans Thiele and LA Revilla from GlobalPort, Jai Reyes from Talk 'N Text, and free agents Riel Cervantes, Alvin Padilla, Paul Sanga, Angelus Raymundo, Eder Saldua, and Chad Alonzo.

Curiously, big names such as Larry Rodriguez of Rain or Shine and Ronnie Matias of San Mig Coffee were not selected in the draft. — JST, GMA News
