Watch: James Yap reveals reason he's not part of Gilas Pilipinas

PBA superstar James Yap was a guest on "Tonight with Arnold Clavio" on Wednesday night, and the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers hero gamely answered fastbreak questions from the host.

Clavio asked Big Game James why he was not part of the Gilas Pilipinas national team.

"Kasi nung time na naimbitahan naman tayo diyan sa Gilas, nung time na yun, yun nga, nagka-injury ako, so naisip ko na lang, bakit hindi natin bigyan yung iba ng chance, ibang player. Na-experience ko naman yun dati," said Yap, who described his injuries in the elbow, shoulder, and back.

Yap had a chance to play for the Powerade Team Pilipinas squad coached by Yeng Guiao in the FIBA Asia Championship in 2009, when he averaged 9.2 points over eight games while leading the team in three-point shooting with a 36.4 percent clip. — JST, GMA News
