In his second year for the GlobalPort Batang Pier, Terrence Romeo is in the best shape of his life.
The former UAAP Most Valuable Player tipped the scaled at 185 pounds prior to his rookie year. He says that he has already shed 25 pounds by reducing calorie intake.
"Bawas kain lang. Kasi dati three rice every meal ako e. Tapos puwera pa yung midnight snack," Romeo said.
Romeo, who represented the Philippines in the FIBA 3X3 World Championships held in Sendai, Japan, visibly looks leaner. But more than looking good, he says the drop in weight has helped him on the court.
"Sobrang nahihirapan 'yung tuhod ko, sobrang nahihirapan akong gumalaw," he said of his condition prior to his weight loss. "So gusto ko lang maiba naman. Gusto kong subukan 'yung magaan na weight."
With a lighter load, the Globalport guard said he has become faster on his feet on the court and significantly improved his stamina.
Despite the significant drop, Romeo said he has yet to achieve his ideal playing weight.
"Hopefully next conference or this conference makuha ko 'yung gusto kong weight." — JST, GMA News
