PBA: Nothing impossible for San Miguel Beer with team's improving teamwork - Fajardo

With a rare 4-0 sweep of powerhouse Talk 'n Text in the semifinals, the San Miguel Beer easily emerges as the favorite to win the Philippine Cup championship.

Indeed, it looks like the time has come for the Beermen to claim glory, and for reigning Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo, sky is the limit to what the current team can achieve.

"Kami as a team, maganda teamwork namin ngayon so walang imposible para sa amin basta magtutulungan lang kami," said the big man, who was almost unstoppable in the post with 28 points from a 12-of-17 shooting clip along with 16 rebounds.

The team finished the eliminations as the top seed with a 9-2 card, losing only to Alaska and Talk 'n Text. They paid the latter back in full with their total domination in the semifinals.

San Miguel is still awaiting the winner of the Alaska-Rain or Shine series, currently tied at 2-2, for their opponent in the finals. Fajardo, however, said that they will be ready for whoever they will be pitted against.

"Mahirap makaabot dito sa finals e. Ayun nandito na kami, sayang naman yung opportunity hindi mo ite-take advantage," said the 6-foot-10 center.

The SMB franchise last won a championship in 2011 Governor's Cup, and last entered the PBA finals in the final conference of the 2012-2013 season.

Fajardo said the team is excited to be back in the finals after being absent for a whole season, but they are not counting on the trophy yet with the threat of Alaska's pressure defense or Rain or Shine's hot shooting.

"Kailangan namin mag-practice pa lalo kasi pahirap nang pahirap 'yung finals e. Di naman basta-basta ibibigay 'yun e," he said. - RAF, GMA News
