UAAP: UP Lady Maroons down Adamson, seize third spot in standings

After pushing defending champions Ateneo to the limit last Sunday, the UP Lady Maroons defeated the Adamson Lady Falcons in four sets, 22-25 25-21 29-27 34-32, on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

Team captain Nicole Tiamzon led the charge for UP with 22 points. Kath Bersola had 13, while Angeli Araneta and Arianne Ilustre had 12 and 11 points, respectively. Vina Alinas added 10.

Jessica Galanza topscored for Adamson with 24 points, while Mylene Paat had 19. Amanda Villanueva addded 16 while team captain Faye Guevara was limited to six.

With the win, the win pushed the Lady Maroons to third place at 3-4, only bested by DLSU (6-0) and Ateneo (5-0).

In the other match, the NU Lady Bulldogs defeated the UST Lady Tigresses in five sets, 25-23 25-22 20-25 22-25 15-9.

Jaja Santiago carried NU with 28 markers, while Myla Pablo added 15.

It was a team effort for UST, as rookie EJ Laure led the pack with 16 markers. Team captain Pam Lastimosa had 13, while Mela Tunay and Marivic Meneses added 10 each. - RAF, GMA News
