NBA: Former Laker Crittenton sentenced to 23 years in prison for manslaughter

Former NBA player Javaris Crittenton pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 2011 shooting death of an Atlanta woman.

Crittenton, 27, was sentenced to 23 years in prison.

Crittenton pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter with a weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm. Prosecutors dropped the murder charge he had faced with the plea agreement.

The 27-year-old Georgia Tech alum was drafted 19th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the 2007 draft.

He was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2008, before being shipped to the Washington Wizards the same year. His last two stints were with the Zhejiang Lions in China and the Dakota Wizards in the NBA D-League. - Reuters
