James Yap had an early father's day celebration with son Bimby on Wednesday, bonding over a meal and gifts they prepared for each other for the occasion.

The PBA superstar shared a photo of the Ironman shirt he received on his Instagram account, and on Sunday, he emerged from the Star Hotshots dugout proudly wearing his son's present.

Thank you Bimb for my gift. #iloveyou #verynice #happyfathersdaygift ????????

The quality time he spent with Bimby may have energized him for the Hotshots' game against Barako Bull, as he finished with 17 points, eight rebounds, and two assists to help his team clinch a 117-89 and a sure slot in the quarterfinals.

Yap, however, said he wants to have more time to forge a closer relationship with his son with ex-wife Kris Aquino.

"Kung ano tatanungin, s'yempre gusto ko na talagang bonding talaga as in bonding," said the PBA cager, who also gifted Bimby with Ironman socks. "Pero hindi e, may oras kasi."

Yap is not complaining with the time they have together, though, as they have not seen each other for quite a while.

"At least nagkita kami," he said. "S'yempre may ilangan ganun. Pero ang mahalaga is nagkita kami at nakabonding ko siya."

The Hotshots guard said he was just happy to be with Bimby again and made sure to maximize the time they had together.

"Kailangan talaga bigay mo talaga 'yung focus mo, 'yung effort mo na maging close kayong dalawa," he said. "'Yun ang pinaka-importante dun kahit limited lang 'yung oras namin."

Yap also said that he longs for the opportunity to share basketball with his son, who is now eight years old.

"Kung may time, tuturuan ako siya," he said. "Matangkad na e." - RAF, GMA News
