As Barangay Ginebra made an early exit in the playoffs yet again on Friday night, one questioned nagged at the minds of the popular team's legions of fans: what happened to Jiwan Kim?

The Asian import played for 12 minutes in the first half and scored five points off a 2-of-3 clip, but did not see any action in the last two quarters of the game when Alaska made their comeback.

After the Kings' 114-108 loss, Kim revealed he was suffering from an IT band injury that caused his knee to hurt during the game.

"It's very disappointing that we lost. I was trying to go as hard as I could in the first half," Kim said through an interpreter. "In the second half my knee was really serious so I couldn't support the team."

Despite failing to go deeper into the playoffs with Ginebra, Kim said he was grateful for the love the fans showered on him and the team.

"I want to say thank you to the fans of Ginebra that has always supported the team. I can never forget," said the Korean shooter. "I will really have a good memory."

Kim also extended his gratitude for his teammates, the coaches, and the team staff for his brief stint in the PBA.

"Everyone has given me a very warm welcome and made me really feel like home. I'm thankful for everything that the team has done for me," he said.

Asked if he is open to returning to play for Ginebra again in the future, Kim answered without hesitation.

"Of course. No doubt." - RAF, GMA News
