UAAP: Lady Archers win fourth straight, escape Lady Eagles

The DLSU Lady Archers committed key turnovers in the endgame, narrowly escaping the Ateneo Lady Eagles, 44-43, on Wednesday at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City.

It is the fourth straight victory for the Lady Archers, who dropped their first game against defending champions NU.

Up one with .5 seconds remaining, the Archers had Alyanna Ong on the line for two. Ong missed both, giving the Lady Eagles a chance to win the game. Ateneo called for time, and DLSU head coach Cholo Villanueva sent in 6-6 Fretzie Oyao to shadow the inbound. The Lady Eagles failed to throw up an attempt as time expired.

Ana Castillo paced the Lady Archers with 11 points with three triples and six boards, while Camille Claro added eight points and three rebounds. Margarita Dagdagan chipped in six, while Snow Penaranda and Ara Abaca cimbined for nine points and 25 rebounds.

Danica Jose led Ateneo with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Hazelle Yam added nine. - GMA News
