Ikeh's case different from Apacible incident, says Ateneo athletic director

After spending the night in police custody over charges of violence against women, Chibueze Ikeh will be back in UAAP action on Sunday to play against De La Salle University.

The Cameroonian cager was granted temporary freedom after posting bail. But unlike teammate John Apacible, who was caught drunk-driving two weeks ago, he escaped suspension from Ateneo de Manila University.

The two cases are different according to ADMU athletic director Emmanuel Fernandez, said in a report by Steve Dailisan on "24 Oras."

"It's a private matter," the official said about Ikeh's case. "There's nothing concerning his actions toward Ateneo or towards anyone."

Apacible, meanwhile, was suspended for the rest of the second round and wrote an apology letter for his video-captured drunken actions towards the police.

Ikeh was arrested on Wednesday night at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum after Ateneo's victory against University of the Philippines in the UAAP. —Marisse Panaligan/JST, GMA News
