PBA: David hits 26 as Bolts notch first win vs Star

Gary David had 26 points to give the Meralco Bolts its first win of the conference after routing the Star Hotshots, 87-83, on Saturday at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

The two teams were tied at 76-all with seven minutes remaining, before Gary David sparked a 7-0 run to put the Bolts ahead, 83-76, with 4:07 left. More baskets by David kept Meralco ahead by eight in the final 1:38. James Yap and Ian Sangalang were able to slice the lead to half, but it was a little too late as Meralco ran away with the victory.

Rabeh Al-Hussaini added 12 points for the Bolts while Reynel Hugnatan tallied 10.

James Yap paced Star with 26 points, while Marc Pingris added 13 markers. No other Hotshot scored in double figures, with Yousef Taha and Ian Sangalang scoring nine each.

Meralco remained at the bottom of the standings with a 1-5 win-loss card, while Star slid to ninth place at 2-4. - GMA News
