Terrence Romeo hoping calf injury heals with two-week rest

Terrence Romeo remains positive that he can return to action for GlobalPort this conference after hurting his calf muscle last week.

The Batang Pier guard injured his leg in the first half of their match against Blackwater, causing him to sit out of their next game against Alaska last Saturday.

Romeo also missed Gilas Pilipinas practice last week, but he showed up at the Moro Lorenzo Gym on Monday night in street clothes.

"Hindi na siya gaano sumasakit pero kailangan kasi totally rest, 'yung wala talagang gagawin," he said.

"Gusto ko sana gumaling siya at the same time mapalakas ko siya para if ever man mailaro ko, maliit 'yung chance na bumalik ulit 'yung sakit," he added.

Romeo said his defender accidentally kicked the back of his leg in the game against Elite, then he pulled his muscle when he attacked the basket.

His leg was iced and taped in the halftime break, and he went back to the game in the fourth quarter after taking painkiller medicine.

Romeo said he will check his leg's condition after two weeks of rest before deciding if he is fit enough to step on the court.

"Imposibleng out of his conference kasi nag-i-improve naman siya. Malaki 'yung chance na makalaro ako ng April."

The Batang Pier will face Star Hotshots on Friday before the holy week break, and then return to action on April 1 against NLEX. —JST, GMA News
