Aldrech Ramos rises to the occasion in Mahindra win vs. Alaska

The Mahindra Enforcers ended their three-game losing streak with a statement win against the Alaska Aces, 102-94, on Monday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Aldrech Ramos led the enforcers off the bench with 25 points and seven rebounds, while four of Mahindra's starters tallied double figures. Nino Canaleta and Augustus Gilchrist led Mahindra with 17 and 16 points, respectively. Karl Dehesa and LA Revilla combined for 24 more markers.

"It's a very important game for us coming from a three-game losing streak," said Mahindra coach Chito Victolero. "We needed to bounce back; we need this game kasi yung standings dikit dikit. We need a sense of urgency right now."

The Enforcers relied on a 60-49 swing in the second and third quarters to enter the final frame with an 11-points lead, 76-65. The Aces were able to trim the double digit lead to just six in the final 10 seconds but Hyram Bagatsing connected on two freethrows to put the game away.

With the win, Mahindra improved to 4-4 to tie the Star Hotshots at sixth place. Alaska, meanwhile, stayed in second place as they absorbed their second straight loss for a 5-3 win-loss card. Still atop the standings are the Meralco Bolts at 6-2.

Shane Edwards led Alaska with 24 points and 13 boards, while Calvin Abueva had 15 points in a starting role. Vic Manuel post 12 points, while RJ Jazul and Chris Banchero had 10 apiece. — RSJ, GMA News
