Filipino-American point guard Jason Brickman led the Malaysia Dragons to their first ever championship in the Asean Basketball League with a 77-65 victory over Singapore Slingers on Saturday in Kuala Lumpur.
The 24-year-old cager from San Antonio, Texas scored 22 points in Game Five of the finals series to lift the Dragons past the Slingers, who forced the decider with a close 75-73 win in their home court last week.
Brickman's brilliant series performance culminated with the Finals Most Valuable Player award.

The Dragons drew first blood in the finals with an 84-80 squeaker against the Slingers, but Singapore bounced back in Game Two with an 83-67 rout.
Malaysia then reasserted their might in Game Three, 90-72, to put the Dragons one win away from the title, but the Slingers kept themselves alive with a game-winning jumper from Wong Wei Long to snatch Game Four.
