Boy suffering from tumor plays basketball game with Yao Ming
A Chinese boy suffering from malignant brain tumor joined in a basketball game organized by a charity organization to help him make his dream come true.
Xuan Xuan, 8, comes from north China's Shanxi Province. He was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a type of malignant brain tumor, in 2015, and has been receiving chemotherapy. He loves basketball and dreamed of playing a real game.
To his surprise, Chinese basketball star Yao Ming appeared in the game Thursday. He did not only bring a special jersey and a book to him but also instructed him on how to play basketball. He held up the boy and completed a dunk.
"I hope that he will grow up healthily and keep his curiosity and see this colorful world, " Yao said.
At the end of the game, the boy received a financial aid from the game organizer.
"It is not simply meeting a basketball star and playing a game for 10 or 20 minutes. The activity will help him build confidence in beating the disease," said Miao Jianmin, an organizer of the charitable game. — Reuters
