Blackwater’s Gilbert Bulawan dies after collapsing during practice
Blackwater forward Gilbert Bulawan passed away after collapsing during the Elite's afternoon practice on Sunday, alternate team governor Wilbert Loa confirmed in a phone interview.
The 29-year-old big man was rushed by the team to Capitol Medical Center from in SG Stadium in Quezon City. The doctors tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
"Healthy naman siya, nabibiro pa nga kanina," Loa said. "Ang bilis ng mga pangyayari."
Bulawan was the 17th overall pick in the 2011 rookie draft, where he was selected by the Alaska Aces.
The basketball community was shocked by his death, offering condolences and prayers through social media.
