Lassiter hits game-winning three to lift SMB past NLEX
Marcio Lassiter hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 0.5 seconds remaining to lift the San Miguel Beermen past the NLEX Road Warriors, 94-93, on Friday.
An Asi Taulava make pushed NLEX ahead by five entering the final minute, forcing San Miguel to call for time. Arizona Reid missed an attempt from deep in the ensuing play, but Lassiter found Alex Cabagnot for a triple to cut the lead to just two with 27 ticks remaining.
It was then NLEX's turn to call for a break, as Henry Walker drained the clock before missing with seven seconds remaining. Reid grabbed the rebound, as San Miguel took another break that led to the Lassiter game-winner.
Lassiter finished the game with just eight points. Prior to the game-winner, he missed all six of his three-point attempts.
Arizona Reid paced San Miguel with 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Alex Cabagnot chipped in 19. June Mar Fajardo came off the bench for 16 points, while Gary David tallied 13.
Henry Walker carried NLEX with 33 points. Sean Anthony was the only other Road Warrior in double figures with 14 off the bench. —JST, GMA News
