Barangay Ginebra San Miguel's starters proved to be too much for the GlobalPort Batang Pier, as the Gin Kings cruised to a 96-85 win to secure a semifinals spot in the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup.

Justin Brownlee had seven triples before finishing the game with 39 points, nine boards, and four assists, while Japeth Aguilar led the locals with 21 markers. The backcourt combination of LA Tenorio and Scottie Thompson, meanwhile, combined for 23 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Ginebra led by as many as 25 points in the game, after continuously building on their lead throughout the first three quarters. They entered the final frame comfortably ahead, 76-56.

With Ginebra's main guns making key contributions in the final 12 minutes, GlobalPort struggled to make a late comeback, edging the Gin Kings by just nine in the fourth to absorb the loss.

Import Justin Harper had a decent outing for the Batang Pier, hitting 29 points with 15 boards, while Terrence Romeo chipped in 22 markers. Stanley Pringle accounted for 16, but the rest of the squad accounted for just 18 points.

GlobalPort was limited to just 34 percent from the field, while allowing Ginebra a high 46 percent. The Gin Kings also won the rebounding battle, 57-47, while dishing out more assists, 28-12. — BM, GMA News
