FilOil: Unlikely hero lifts La Salle past Lyceum

Santi Santillan converted on an and-one with 10 seconds remaining as the De La Salle Green Archers forged a finals duel against the San Beda Red Lions after defeating the Lyceum Pirates, 100-99, on Wednesday in the 2017 FilOil Flying V Preseason Cup.

The rookie provided three of his nine points in the dying seconds to put La Salle ahead.

Aljun Melecio led the Archers with 30 points, four rebounds, four steals, and an assists. Ricci Rivero added 29 points, while Ben Mbala tallied 26 points with 16 rebounds.

It was a high-scoring affiar for two teams who shot well from the field. La Salle hit half of their 74 attempts, while Lyceum connected on 42 percent.

CJ Perez continued with his stellar play for the Pirates, scoring 24 points with 11 rebounds, seven assists, and six steals in the losing effort. —JST, GMA News
