'WHY ALLOW US TO PLAY?'

Perpetual protests forfeited game over wrong uniform

The Perpetual Altas have filed a protest before the NCAA over its forfeited game against College of Saint Benilde last Tuesday.

The Altas won the game, 69-65, but the result was overturned because the team erroneously wore its maroon uniforms instead of its designated light jerseys.

In its protest, Perpetual questioned why it was penalized twice, noting that the team was assessed a technical foul before tipoff apart from the forfeiture. The Altas also asked why commissioner Arturo "Bai" Cristobal allowed the game to push through instead of simply deciding the game should have been forfeited.

NCAA Management Committee chairman Fr. Glyn Ortega, OAR, of host San Sebastian said they are deliberating on the issue.

CSB coach TY Tang, for his part, agrees that the game should never have been played.

“For me, the game should have been over before it started,” said Tang. —JST, GMA News
