Pringle shines as GlobalPort outguns TNT

Stanley Pringle had 30 points as the GlobalPort Batang Pier defeated the TNT KaTropa 119-112 on Friday in the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup.

Pringle shot a high 62 percent as the Batang Pier’s starting shooter, connecting on 10 of his 16 attempts while nabbing eight boards and four assists.

Import Murphy Holloway added 24 points with 17 rebounds, six assists, four steals, and three blocks. Sean Anthony was also effective in a starting role, chipping in 21, while Mike Cortez tallied 11 markers.

Terrence Romeo had just 13 points off a 5 of 14 clip, but the starters did enough to out-gun TNT for the win.

Down 25-18 after the opening period, GlobalPort relied on a 39-23 assault in the second quarter to erect a 57-48 edge at the half.

TNT was able to cut a late 15-point lead to just five with 50 seconds remaining, 114-109, but Stanley Pringle and Terrence Romeo strung four straight to put the game out of reach.

Glen Rice Jr. carried TNT with 39 points and 11 boards, while Roger Pogoy put up 26 markers. Jayson Castro scored 15 off the bench, while Ranidel de Ocampo rounded up the starters in double figures with 12. — DVM, GMA News
